Lions' Cameron faces long AFL injury stint

In-form Brisbane Lion Charlie Cameron is facing at least six weeks on the sideline with a suspected midfoot injury.

Brisbane's season of tough breaks looks set to continue with standout Lion Charlie Cameron facing at least six weeks on the sideline.

The livewire Adelaide Crows recruit limped off in the first half against North Melbourne on Sunday.

The suspected Lisfranc injury to his midfoot, one dreaded in AFL circles, is likely to keep him out for six to eight weeks.

But it could even rule him out for the season, with scan results on Tuesday to reveal the full extent of the damage.

Cameron, Allen Christensen (concussion) and Hugh McCluggage (hamstring) all left the game in the first half on Sunday after Jarrod Berry was a late withdrawal with hamstring soreness.

It stung the visitors, who rallied in the second half but still suffered a 54-point loss.

Cameron has been one of the side's bright lights in a 1-10 start to a season that has featured a string of close losses.

The Lions host Essendon at the Gabba on Sunday.
