Lions hunt Suns to avoid AFL wooden spoon

Brisbane captain Dayne Beams can smell blood in the water on the Gold Coast and hopes to add further torment in Saturday's AFL clash at the Gabba.

Brisbane captain Dayne Beams hopes to add to the Gold Coast's woes this weekend and help his side off the bottom of the AFL ladder in the process.

Back to his best in the weekend's loss to Western Bulldogs after being sidelined by a shoulder injury, Beams is aware of the pressure on the struggling Suns and their coach Rodney Eade.

Off contract, Eade has faced scrutiny all season and Beams said the Lions would do their best to add to that.

"When you can cause any disruption to any other clubs it's a nice thing to play for; it creates motivation for the group," the Brisbane captain said ahead of Saturday's QClash.

Sitting one win behind North Melbourne and two behind the Suns, the Lions can jump off the bottom with a win at the Gabba on Saturday.

The Lions came close to adding to their four wins last weekend, leading the Bulldogs into the final break.

As they have done many times this season, the cellar dwellers were unable to maintain a winning standard of football for long enough in a 14-point loss.

But they have shown enough to go into remaining games against the Suns, Melbourne and the Kangaroos with confidence.

"I see those last three as winnable games," Beams said.

"That's our mission; it starts this week and there's no better feeling than to beat the Gold Coast and hopefully North have a loss and we can jump off."

"The last three rounds can be monotonous, they can drag out, but we're really looking forward to finishing strongly."
