Working out how to utilise three classy point guards is about to become a reality for Sydney NBL coach Andrew Gaze, with reigning league MVP Kevin Lisch set to play on Saturday in Cairns.
Olympian Lisch missed the ladder-leading Kings' home game against Illawarra on Sunday with a calf issue, but Sydney still recorded a fifth straight win.
Lisch didn't train on Tuesday, but did some work on Wednesday.
"He took some shots today (Wednesday) - he didn't have a full workout," Gaze told AAP.
"Based on the feedback from our medical staff, and him personally, we're 90 per cent sure he's going to be fine.
"He'll practise probably half the session tomorrow (Thursday), then the full session Friday and then we've got the game Saturday.
"Provided he gets through those sessions, then he'll play."
If that eventuates, Gaze will have all three of his point guards available for the first time.
Former NBA player Steve Blake played a bigger-than-expected 36 minutes on debut against Illawarra because of Lisch's absence.
Boomers point guard Jason Cadee has been in red-hot form and is having a breakout season, but Gaze doesn't anticipate any problems accommodating all three.
"I don't think it's a major adjustment," Gaze said.
"We're dealing with guys that are unselfish guys that understand the team goals and how it's going to be better for them in the long run, that they are getting some quality time and we're not going to be exhausting them to the point where their form is going to be compromised.
"I feel good about that rotation having three quality players, but it's something that we have to deal with.
"We haven't dealt with it yet, because we haven't had them all available yet, but I don't envisage it being a major issue.
"You've got 80 minutes between three players, so they are all going to get very good court time. I don't think that's the issue - the issue is how they play together.
'How we utilise their skills when they are together is going to be the thing that we need to work on."
