Liberal National Party candidate Ted O'Brien says he's ready for the next phase in his intense battle with Clive Palmer for the seat of Fairfax.
Mr Palmer finished 36 votes ahead of Mr O'Brien on Saturday, triggering an automatic recount.
The Australian Electoral Commission will review the distribution of preferences on Monday before starting a recount that's expected to take several days.
Mr O'Brien likened the battle to a football match, saying he's now in half-time and is ready for the second half of an intense match.
"The past two weeks has been intense for everyone involved," he told reporters on Sunday.
