LNP candidate: washing is women's work

A day after the prime minister declared himself a feminist, the LNP's candidate for the Brisbane seat of Lilley has been outed for chauvinistic remarks.

One of self-proclaimed feminist Malcolm Turnbull's Brisbane candidates is under fire for describing washing and ironing as "women's work".

David Kingston, who is standing for the LNP against former Labor treasurer Wayne Swan in the seat of Lilley, wrote on his travel blog that even his wife thought he was a chauvinist, The Courier Mail reported.

On the TravelPod site, he also wrote that his wife Donna "was very well behaved" and "got busy with some women's work - washing clothes".
