Queensland Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls has claimed LNP defector Steve Dickson reassured him late last year he would not jump ship to One Nation.

Mr Nicholls, who was blindsided by the Member for Buderim's move to One Nation on Friday, said Mr Dickson never came to him with any concerns about the party.

"If Steve Dickson had problems with those values he should've come forward and said them," he told ABC Radio on Monday.

"It's not as if you can't pick up the phone or have a chat with us."

Mr Nicholls said Mr Dickson has gone so far as to reaffirm his commitment to the LNP.

"Steve Dickson reassured me and others of his colleagues only at the end of last year that he was a firm and committed member of the LNP," he said.

"He said: 'I'm not jumping ship, I don't have any intention to move'."

Mr Nicholls said he had also heard from Mr Dickson's lawyers, who confirmed LNP documents downloaded one day before his defection will be destroyed.

"His lawyer has written back and said 'yes we took the documents'," he said.

"He's saying 'we're going to destroy any that were printed out and we won't access the confidential property of the LNP'."

It followed an allegation by the LNP that 52 documents were downloaded from its servers on Thursday, from a login associated with Mr Dickson.

That's despite the member for Buderim saying on Sunday that claims his staff stole the 52 documents from the LNP were a "distortion of the truth".

"We've stolen nothing. My staff have stolen nothing. One Nation have stolen nothing and I've stolen nothing," he said.

Mr Nicholls said the LNP will now move on and not take the issue further.
