Queenslanders are hundreds of days away from heading to the ballot box to cast their vote.
But the leader of the Liberal National Party has already painted herself and her party as the underdog in the next race for state government.
Deb Frecklington says it is she who faces the biggest challenge, despite an outright rejection of Labor voters at the federal poll in May.
"State politics is obviously very different to the federal ones," Ms Frecklington said on Sunday.
"For the state team, we are very driven and directed into what we need to do ... take back the state in 476 days."
Queensland helped secure the return of Prime Minister Scott Morrison, so much so that its role in the Coalition's victory took up a significant portion of his address to LNP members in Brisbane on Saturday.
"I want to thank Queenslanders for believing in me, and I thank Queenslanders for believing in my team," he said.
"I want to thank Queenslanders for believing in the Liberals and the Nationals and the LNP, we are a party that is the custodian of values that I think go to the core of this country's DNA."
The party has already aimed its focus on 11 seats it says it must win to form government, and has ruled out deals with minor parties to get across the line.
Ms Frecklington is targeting a majority LNP government.
She says building dams, cutting the cost of power and building infrastructure such as a duplication of the Sunshine Coast rail line are her top priorities.
