Trent Boult has been ruled fit for New Zealand's three-match one-day tour of Australia while the Black Caps can't wait to unleash raw paceman Lockie Ferguson, who's been clocked at 150km/hr.
Kiwi coach Mike Hesson confirmed left-arm paceman Boult was ready to go for the first match in Sydney on Sunday after missing the second Test against Pakistan in Hamilton with a knee injury.
Opening batsman Martin Guptill was also cleared after having a cortisone injection for a troublesome shoulder.
But there's plenty of intrigue around Auckland speedster Ferguson, a 25-year-old right-armer who has snared 77 first-class wickets in 22 matches.
Hesson indicated that given the Kiwis are travelling with a 14-man squad, Ferguson is poised to make his ODI debut either at the SCG or in Canberra or Melbourne.
Ferguson, with his speed, was a point of difference.
"He bowls consistently in the 140km/hr range, and clicks over 150 every now and then," New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen said last week.
"There is some real gas to Lockie Ferguson. There's an element of surprise and no batsman likes bowlers who are up at that pace."
Hesson added New Zealand's one-day outfit may be down on experience since the cricket World Cup but it is still an exciting squad as they aim to to defend the Chappell-Hadlee trophy.
There's no Brendon McCullum or Daniel Vettori and Ross Taylor will miss the trip to undergo eye surgery.
"As a one-day unit we've been pretty strong for a while ... we are a reliable white ball side," he said.
"A lot of these guys have never played in Australia. There'll be some good crowds there, plenty of hostility. For any New Zealand side going over there it's an exciting time."
Hesson also note Colin de Grandhomme was a "more reliable" bowler with the white ball than some of the side's allrounders.
"He offers us the ability to bowl closer to 10 overs. He bowls at the death a lot in domestic cricket ... and I think we've seen glimpses with the bat how destructive he can be.
"An hour of watching Colin bat the game can change. It's always nice to have those guys in your side."
