Trouble-plagued former NRL player Matthew Lodge is reportedly attempting to resurrect his rugby league career with a feeder side for Brisbane.
According to Channel 7 on Monday, Lodge is poised to sign with Queensland Cup club the Redcliffe Dolphins.
The 21-year-old is attempting to get his life back on track after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour reckless assault charge resulting from a night out in New York last year.
Lodge, who was sacked by Wests Tigers following the incident, is awaiting sentencing in which he followed two women home and terrorised a family inside their apartment.
He is also facing a $US2.2 million civil lawsuit in the US District Court.
Lodge last month told Fairfax Media he had sworn off alcohol in a bid to get his life back on track and returned to league via his western Sydney junior club St Patricks Blacktown.
Lodge has reportedly met with Bennett and is seeking to return to the NRL via Redcliffe.
The NRL is unlikely to immediately register a first-grade contract because of his chequered history and may have to prove he has been rehabilitated before being allowed to sign with the Broncos and play in the NRL again.
Lodge was in 2014 given a three-week suspension by the NRL after writing "c***" on his wrist strapping while playing for NSW under 20s in a televised junior State of Origin match.
He was also stood down by the Tigers in 2015 over an alleged domestic violence incident which saw him charged with six counts of common assault.
