Six months ago, a community in south-east Queensland made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Now, Logan City Council is preparing to roll out a long-term plan to defuse racial tensions.

It proposes many initiatives for Indigenous residents, including education and training, employment, and a planned Arts and Culture centre.

The plan has received backing from the Queensland government, but Aboriginal elders say the city's youth must have a say on the future of the area.
