Every third person you meet this winter could give you the flu, experts are warning.
The Influenza Specialist Group (ISG) says it's important to be vaccinated every year against influenza.
But a survey of 1,120 people has found that while 82 per cent of them recognise the benefits of vaccination, nearly three quarters are unsure whether they will get it.
The low level of vaccination makes it easier for the disease to spread.
ISG director Bill Rawlinson says people need to recognise the flu isn't like the common cold.

"The reports of influenza-related hospitalisations and deaths in Europe should act as a sign that precautions should be taken," Prof Rawlinson said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Taking preventive measures, along with avoiding transmission to others, is very important," he said.
"The impact of influenza is quite unpredictable.
"However, it is with us every year and outbreaks in Australia will soon be imminent.
The ISG estimates that every third person on public transport, at work or out shopping could pass on the influenza virus this winter.
