Luckless Campese hit by more injury woe

Former Canberra skipper Terry Campese is facing yet another injury layoff with a hamstring problem sidelining the Hull KR playmaker for two months.

Hull KR's injury-jinxed captain Terry Campese is facing up to another lengthy lay-off, head coach James Webster has confirmed.

The 31-year-old former Canberra and NSW five-eighth, who spent eight months on the sidelines following a knee reconstruction, returned to action at Leeds last Friday after a hamstring problem had prematurely ended his comeback against Huddersfield in March.

But Campese lasted only 13 minutes at Headingley before aggravating the same injury and could now be out for up to two months.

"We are looking at six to eight weeks for Terry," Webster said.

"It's a little bit worse than before. Obviously we need to give him some time to get over that. We don't want to risk him in any way.

"We've got a couple of Challenge Cup games in between so we're probably looking at four or five league games.

"He's disappointed of course. No player likes to sit on the sidelines especially when he's missed a large chunk of the season already.

"Saying that, you've got to look at the positives. We've got two people who are able to do the job and we'll get a fresh, fit player back at the end of the year when we'll need to win some games."

The news is the latest setback for a player whose career has been blighted with injury that saw him play just 44 games in his final four season with the Raiders.
