Luckless Saints skipper requires surgery

St Kilda skipper Jarryn Geary will miss up to 10 weeks following surgery to repair a broken leg suffered against Port Adelaide in Shanghai.

Luckless St Kilda skipper Jarryn Geary will undergo surgery on the leg he fractured during his side's heavy AFL loss to Port Adelaide in Shanghai.

In his first game back from a gruesome right thigh injury, the 30-year-old suffered a clean break to the fibula in his left leg and will go under the surgeon's knife in Melbourne on Wednesday.

"It's extremely frustrating and disappointing. At the moment it's looking like an 8-10 week recovery period, but we'll know a bit more after the surgery," said Saints football chief Simon Lethlean.
