Lucy Turnbull to report to NSW premier

The Greater Sydney Commission will now report directly to NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian in its role in planning the city's future.

Lucy Turnbull's Greater Sydney Commission will now report directly to the NSW premier regarding its plans for the future of Australia's largest city.

The commission, which is working on a plan to transform Sydney into a metropolis of three distinct cities over the next 40 years, has previously reported to the state's planning department.

GSC chief commissioner Lucy Turnbull, wife of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, says dealing directly with the premier will ensure the commission's plans become "a reality".

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Tuesday said having the commission report to directly to her meant it would be "front and centre" of the government's decision making.

The GSC's plan would develop a western parkland city and a central river city to complement the existing eastern harbour-side city.
