Veteran forwards Issac Luke and Adam Blair will be co-captains on New Zealand's three-Test tour of England in November.
In the absence of regular skipper Simon Mannering, who was ruled out on Tuesday with stomach issues, Luke and Blair will lead a relatively inexperienced 23-man squad.
Announced on Thursday, the squad includes six new caps: Brisbane Broncos pair Jordan Kahu and Kodi Nikorima, Sydney Roosters duo Isaac Liu and Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Bulldogs winger Curtis Rona and Warriors utility Tuimoala Lolohea.
The biggest issue for coach Stephen Kearney is in the halves as he tries to fill the gap left by the withdrawal of star duo Shaun Johnson and Kieran Foran as well as veteran utility Thomas Leuluai due to injury.
Notable omissions among the forwards are Greg Eastwood, Elijah Taylor and Bodene Thompson.
Luke and Blair share 64 Tests between them and Kearney believes they have the full respect of the tour party.
Luke was a driving force in South Sydney's 2014 premiership-winning campaign from hooker and Kearney believes he has grown hugely off the field while compiling his 33 Test caps.
"Issac is very highly respected within the group and has been part of the programme for a long time," he said.
"He's definitely one that's grown over the course of his Kiwis career, both as a footballer and a leader."
As assistant coach of the Broncos, Kearney has admired at close hand Blair's dynamic form in helping Brisbane reach last week's NRL grand final.
"In big games, he has delivered for us before," said Kearney.
"Adam's been in the programme for quite some time and knows what's expected. I see it as a natural choice."
Options to fill the void in the halves are Manly's Pita Hiku and Melbourne's Tohu Harris, who have limited playmaking experience, and three of his new faces - Warriors utility Tuimoala Lolohea, Broncos utility Jordan Kahu and Broncos hooker/halfback Kodi Nikorima.
Kearney has chosen to ignore the merits of former halfback and captain Benji Marshall, instead wanting to build depth in the halves through the four-week tour.
The tour begins with a warm-up game against Leeds on October 23, followed by Tests in Hull (November 1), London (November 7) and Wigan (November 14).
