Luke Gale wins Super League media award

Castleford Super League halfback Luke Gale has been named the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association player of the year.

Castleford Super League halfback Luke Gale has won the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association player of the year award.

The England international is on the three-man shortlist for Super League's Man of Steel award.

Gale held off Wigan and England captain Sean O'Loughlin and his Tigers teammates Greg Eden, Paul McShane, Zak Hardaker and Grant Millington to scoop the Raymond Fletcher Memorial Trophy.

Set to be named on October 9 in England's Rugby League World Cup squad, Gale will be presented with the trophy and replica in the new year.
