The newly unveiled Martin Luther King statue in Washington DC is causing furore with one poet saying the inscription makes him look like an "arrogant twit".
An inscription reads "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness". The quote has been shortened from one of his speeches two months before his death about how he would want to be remembered.
Luther King actually said: "Yes, if you want to say I was a drum major for justice, say I was a drum major for peace, I was a drum major for righteousness."
The monument's architect Ed Jackson said they had to shorten the quote because of a "space issue" but poet Maya Angelou said the quote makes the civil rights activist look like "an arrogant twit".

Tourists have been flocking to the monument but critics have said the design of the African-American leader's statue makes him look "stern" and "angry".
The monument's architect says the quote is more succinct and easier to understand but one of the original sculptor's is also unhappy.
