Queensland stand-in captain Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the Matador Cup with a dislocated shoulder.

Lynn was due to captain the Bulls' 50-over outfit with regular skipper Usman Khawaja on international duty, but injured his left shoulder during a fielding drill on Thursday.

It is the same shoulder Lynn had surgery on in 2014 which kept him out of last year's Matador Cup.

Batsman Peter Forrest will captain the side in the tournament which kicks off on October 5 when Queensland take on Tasmania at North Sydney.
