Lynn ruled out of Sri Lankan T20s, Dunk in

Chris Lynn has been ruled out of Australia's T20 series against Sri Lanka due to injury, with mate Ben Dunk to fill the vacancy.

BBL star Chris Lynn has been ruled out of Australia's three-match Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka after aggravating his injured neck.

Adelaide Strikers batsman Ben Dunk, who top-scored in the recent BBL, has been called up ahead of the first match on February 17 in Melbourne.

Brisbane Heat batsman Lynn, who averaged more than 150 in BBL06 with a strike rate above 177, was selected in Australia's 13-man squad despite his ongoing neck issue.

He has not played since Australia's first one-day international against Pakistan on January 13 in Brisbane.

"Chris resumed some light training as part of his rehabilitation but was still unable to function at the level he needs to play international cricket due to his existing neck injury," Australian team physiotherapist Kevin Sims said.

A time frame for his recovery is unknown, with Lynn to see a specialist this week.

He has also been plagued by shoulder problems the past three seasons.

Dunk last played T20 cricket for Australia in 2014 in three matches against South Africa.

He hit 364 runs in the 2016-17 BBL, opening the batting for the Strikers and averaging 52 at a strike rate of 164, and hoped his selection would be a chance to impress on the international stage.

"Unfortunately Chris Lynn, a very good friend of mine, hasn't recovered from his injury and so I get an opportunity," Dunk said of the call-up he received on Wednesday afternoon.

"The opportunity doesn't come along every day to play for your country so, hopefully, I can perform and win games for Australia and stay there."
