Lynx move to top of the WNBL table

All five starters got into double figures in Perth's 85-64 rout of South-East Queensland Stars in round eight of the WNBL.

Perth Lynx have moved to outright top of the WNBL ladder with a dominant 85-64 away win over South-East Queensland Stars in the final match of round eight.

In a balanced team performance, all five starters reached double figures for Perth, although the difference was a 43-27 rebounding count in their favour.

It was the perfect response by coach Andy Stewart's side, who had been downed by defending champions Townsville Fire 91-81 just 24 hours earlier.

Sunday's win means Perth now leap both the Fire and Sydney Flames as the new competition frontrunners ahead of yet another double-header next week.

For the Shane Heal-coached Stars, it was a missed opportunity to join the top three teams on seven wins and extends their losing streak to three.

Meanwhile, Adelaide have slumped to their fourth loss in five games after shooting just 37 per cent from the field in their 89-73 defeat to Bendigo.

Veteran Belinda Snell stuffed the stat sheet for the Spirit, posting a game-high 19 points on 8-15 shooting, including three from downtown.

The 34-year-old also added seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in a complete all-round performance.

Last-placed Canberra almost claimed their first win of the season but their fourth-quarter comeback fell just short in a cliffhanger against Melbourne.

Down 14 points at the last change, the Capitals got within three on a Renee Montgomery long-range bomb in the final minute but couldn't get any closer and eventually fell 66-61.

In the only other match of the week, Dandenong captain Stephanie Cumming scored 23 points in a dominant 85-65 win over Sydney.
