Macquarie Atlas to build management group

Macquarie Atlas Roads says it will transition from Macquarie Group's management relationship and build its own management group.

Macquarie Atlas Roads will build its own internal management group, separating its arrangements from major stakeholder Macquarie Group.

Macquarie Atlas says it will begin discussion with Macquarie to determine a transition to internalise management and expects to update shareholders no later than the company's next annual general meeting.

The company says that under Macquarie's active management, Macquarie Atlas has grown from a market capitalisation of $278 million, to a top 100 ASX listed company with a market capitalisation of $4 billion,.

It also has delivered a compound annual return of roughly 37 per cent since listing nearly eight years ago.

Macquarie Atlas board chairs Nora Scheinkestel and Jeff Conyers say the time has now come for the company to build its own internal management.

"The independent directors will work with Macquarie to progress the steps required to complete the transition in a way that is in the best interests of security holders," the pair said in a statement on Monday.
