Four runs may not look good on the scoreboard.
Especially if it's next to under fire rookie Nic Maddinson.
But Test teammate Usman Khawaja says No.6 Maddinson's second innings cameo in the first Test against Pakistan in Brisbane meant a lot to the team.
Maddinson thrashed his first Test four but went out swinging next ball from Wahab Riaz in Australia's quest for quick runs before a declaration on day three on Saturday.
He now has just five runs at 1.66 in two Tests.
However, Khawaja still gave Maddinson's three-ball knock - and third straight failure - a big pass mark.
"We needed quick runs and he went out there and hit a big shot second ball and tried to hit another big shot third ball and obviously lost his wicket for the team," he said.
"And that's all you can ask for from a player.
"At the end of the day people are going to look at it and say he got out for four but what he was doing for the team was more important than anything else.
"That's the important thing to take out of it."
Maddinson looked set to be replaced by Shaun Marsh for the Boxing Day Test.
However, he is set for a reprieve with Marsh still to prove his fitness after breaking his finger in last month's heavy Perth Test loss to South Africa.
Khawaja expected Maddinson to be a teammate for some time.
"I've known Maddo for a long time," he said.
"He's obviously a really good batsman and there's no doubt in my mind that he's going to play a lot of Test cricket and do well."
Pakistan were 2-70 at stumps on day three on Saturday chasing a world record victory target of 490.
