Madonna, others donate to NZ victims fund

A-list celebrities including singer Madonna and actor Ben Stiller have donated thousands to a fund raising page for the New Zealand terror attack victims.

A-list celebrities including Madonna and Ben Stiller have donated thousands to a fundraiser for the New Zealand terror attack victims.

The GoFundMe page had reached almost $US80,000 of its $US100,000 goal on Sunday after being set up by Guy Oseary, the manager for Madonna and the band U2, who pledged $US18,000 himself.

Actor Stiller, filmmaker Judd Apatow and actor Ashton Kutcher each pledged $US1,000.

Other donations came from comedian Chris Rock, who donated $US5,000 with Madonna pledging $US10,000 dollars.

"I read the frightening details and could barely find the strength to watch a short clip of the disturbing footage. My heart breaks for the victims and for their families," Oseary wrote on the page after setting it up on Friday.

"We will work with GoFundMe to ensure all funds are transferred to an organisation providing support to the families and community."
