A magnitude-4.1 aftershock has rattled parts of southern California where a moderate quake occurred the day before.
The US Geological Survey said the aftershock struck shortly after 2.30pm local time on Saturday.
A magnitude-5.1 earthquake centred 40 kilometres south of Los Angeles hit on Friday night, cracking foundations and causing evacuations.
More than 100 aftershocks have followed including the latest, which was the largest so far.
