Magnitude 5.6 earthquake hits Taiwan

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake has struck Taiwan, the United States Geological Survey has reported.

The quake struck at a depth of less than 10 kilometres, about 36 kilometres north-west of the city of Hualian.

Twitter users reported feeling the quake from the capital of Taipei. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
