Magnitude 7 quake strikes eastern Russia

There have been no reports of damage or injuries after a magnitude 7 quake struck in eastern Russia.

A strong magnitude 7 earthquake has struck eastern Russia, but local Russian emergency ministry officials said the tremor had not caused any casualties or damage.

The quake struck 110km north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, the US Geological Survey said. It struck at a relatively deep 153km.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy said there were no casualties and no threat of tsunami.
