Magpie accepts two-week AFL Women's ban

Collingwood forward Sophie Casey has taken a two-match AFL Women's ban for a collision that hospitalised Melbourne defender Meg Downie.

Collingwood forward Sophie Casey has accepted a two-match ban for the front-on collision that knocked out Melbourne defender Meg Downie in Saturday night's AFL Women's clash.

Casey took the ban with an early guilty plea rather than risk a three-week suspension if she opted to face the AFLW tribunal on Tuesday and was unsuccessful.

The incident was classed as careless conduct with high impact to the head, and left Downie hospitalised following the Demons' 19-point win

Western Bulldogs defender Laura Bailey has also taken a one-match ban for rough conduct on Adelaide's Courtney Cramey.
