A male model who collapsed on a catwalk in Brazil has died hours later in hospital.

A male model has died in hospital hours after collapsing on a catwalk during Fashion Week in Sao Paulo, according to Brazilian media reports.

Tales Soares, 26, tripped on the catwalk at a fashion show for the Ocksa label, the Folha de S Paulo newspaper reported in its weekend edition.

People watching the presentation initially thought his falling over was part of the show.

Soares - who worked under the pseudonym Tales Cotta - was taken to hospital, but doctors were ultimately unable to revive him. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

The organisers of Sao Paulo Fashion Week expressed their condolences to Soares' family.
