A man has been arrested for the 2010 murder of Central Coast teacher Amanda Carter.

Police say a 64-year-old man was arrested by officers at a home in Bonnells Bay, about 100km north of Sydney, at 7.50am on Saturday.

The man was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he will be charged with murder.

He is expected to appear at Gosford Bail Court on Sunday.

Ms Carter, 46, was found dead by her youngest daughter in a bedroom of her Woongarrah home on the NSW Central Coast in May 2010.
