Man ate insects to survive bush stranding

A man who went missing in WA's South West bushland last week has been found, after apparently surviving on a diet of insects.

A West Australian man had to resort to eating insects after he became stranded in bushland in the state's South West region when his car became bogged.

Christopher Frendo, 31, was last seen refuelling his utility at a service station in Busselton on Wednesday.

Mr Frendo, who said he was going to the bush to photograph wildlife, was found by a passing motorist near Nannup on Sunday afternoon.

Police said it was understood he ate insects and drank from pools of water to survive his ordeal.

He was taken to Busselton hospital for attention.
