Man attempts world record for living underwater

A US man is attempting to break the world's record for the longest time spent underwater.

US diver Jerry Hall is attempting to break the world's record for the longest time lived underwater.

The 48-year-old chemical worker has been underwater since Saturday July 27 and is hoping to remain there until Friday August 2.

To help him in his effort is a team of 20 volunteers, who are working around the clock to ensure he remains hydrated and well fed.

And every 12 hours the volunteers are also supplying Mr Hall with diving gloves and socks filled with a special cream to prevent his hands and feet from becoming too wrinkly.

During his time underwater, Mr Hall has been talking to friends, sleeping and even watching movies.

"I actually slept really good last night, I mean ... I am in the world's largest water bed," Mr Hall said.

The current world record for the longest time spent underwater is 120 hours and 14 minutes held by Allen Sherrod.
