Man charged over alleged one-punch attack

A man will appear in court over an alleged one-punch attack that's left another man in hospital after an altercation in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

A 36-year-old man charged with assault after an alleged one-punch attack in Sydney's beachside suburb of Coogee will face court next month.

Police say the 36-year-old approached a 38-year-old man on a street just before midnight on Sunday and allegedly punched him, causing him to fall.

The 38-year-old was treated by paramedics for lacerations to his head before being taken to St Vincent's hospital.

Officers stopped a taxi near the scene of the alleged attack a short time later and arrested a 36-year-old man.

He has been charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Waverley local court on September 7.
