A man has been charged with the murder of Brisbane mother-of-two Danielle Miller.

The Annerley local, 49, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning, four days after Ms Miller, 44, was found dead in her Greenslopes home.

On Wednesday evening he was charged with murder and six counts of stealing and is due before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Ms Miller knew her accused killer but it's unclear how long they had been acquainted, Acting Detective Inspector Tony Geary said.

Public information and CCTV footage had been instrumental in catching the man, who detectives found buying fish and chips in Coorparoo, Det Insp Geary said.

The man was known to police and hadn't been home in the past few days, possibly to avoid authorities.

Det Insp Geary refused to speculate on Ms Miller's cause of death and said post-mortem results have not been finalised.

A number of items of interest had been found after SES volunteers scoured the street earlier this week.

On Monday investigators appeared to find something of interest in a large skip bin at a construction site across the road from Ms Miller's house.
