A 41-year-old man who allegedly punched a woman in the head during a road rage incident on the NSW Central Coast has been charged.

Dash cam footage of the incident, uploaded on Monday, shows a man approaching a 21-year-old woman at Lake Munmorah and punching her in the head as she stands beside a car.

The victim, Bianca Lee Sams, has accused the man of tailgating her friend, who was driving the ute she was travelling in.

She says she threw nails at the driver before the confrontation.

"I threw them because I had to ... [it was] what I had to do to protect me and my friend," she told the Nine Network.

"We were both scared, We didn't know what to do. We tried swerving ... and he kept following us."

The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after he handed himself into Wyong Police Station on Wednesday morning, police say.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Wyong Local Court on August 30.

Police are meanwhile working to identify four men involved in a suspected road rage brawl after footage of the incident emerged on Wednesday.

The vision, captured by a nearby motorist, shows the men throwing punches and kicking each other at traffic lights in Merrylands in Sydney's west on Tuesday.

The fight took place in heavy peak hour traffic at the Douglas Road intersection.

Police are urging any witnesses to contact them.
