Man charged over Qld explosives

A 50-year-old Queensland man has been charged after a small quantity of explosives was found by police on a vacant block west of Brisbane.

A man has been charged after explosives were found in a residential area west of Brisbane.

The 50-year-old man was charged on Thursday after police found a small quantity of explosives on a vacant block in Clay Street, West Ipswich, on Wednesday evening.

The bomb squad have detonated all the material.

The man has been charged with one count each of possessing explosive material, disposing of explosive material and supplying of dangerous drugs.

He's due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 23.

Last week officers carried out 14 controlled explosions at a nearby house, which was riddled with explosives.
