A flatmate has been accused of secretly recording several people, including a young boy, in the bathroom of a western Sydney apartment.

The 29-year-old man allegedly began secretly filming the bathroom inside a Harris Park unit from December last year, capturing footage of a man and a woman, both 31, and a seven-year-old boy, police said.

The 29-year-old had been living in the apartment with those he is accused of filming, a NSW Police spokesman said.

He was arrested at his Parramatta workplace on Wednesday by officers who found a number of recordings of the woman and a child on his mobile phone.

Police will allege in court the 31-year-old man was also filmed without his consent while using the same bathroom.

The man was charged with two counts of filming a person in a private act without consent and possession of child abuse material.

He's been granted strict conditional police bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court next week.
