A Sydney man who allegedly tried to groom an 11-year-old girl for sexon the social networking site, Facebook, has been charged, police say.

A Sydney man who allegedly tried to groom an 11-year-old girl for sex on the social networking site, Facebook, has been charged, police say.

The 27-year-old is accused of sending the girl numerous messages via the site, and arranging a location to meet her for sexual activity.

Police said he first contacted her on March 7, when she allowed him access to her personal information and photographs.

Computer seized

The girl told her mother, who went to police.

Officers arrested the man on Monday at a park in Emerton, in Sydney's west, and later seized a computer from his Bidwill home.

He was charged with travel to meet a child groomed for sexual activity and bailed to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on March 30.
