Man charged with impersonating soldier

A Queensland man has been charged for allegedly claiming in court he had served in East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq.

A Queensland man who claimed he served overseas in the Australian army has been arrested and charged with falsely representing a returned soldier.

Police allege the 39-year-old told the Southport Magistrates Court in October 2013 that he had served in the Australian Defence Force in East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The man has also been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He's been taken into custody and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
