Police have charged a 19-year-old man with murder as NSW detectives continue the search for Qi Yu.

The 28-year-old Chinese woman disappeared from a Campsie share house in Sydney's southwest on Friday.

Yu last contacted her family on June 8.

One day after she disappeared, police found her white 2016 Toyota Corolla in Lindsay Street in the nearby suburb Burwood.

On Wednesday, police arrested and charged a 19-year-old man with murder, upon his release from hospital.

He was refused bail at Burwood Local Court.

Investigators continue to conduct inquiries to locate Yu.

Ms Yu's mother has travelled to Sydney and visited the house, according to a neighbour.

"She cried and cried," he told The Daily Telegraph.
