Man charged with raping children

A Launceston man allegedly used social media to arrange meetings with children who he then raped, police say.

A Launceston man is facing three rape charges after meeting up with children he contacted online.

The 24-year-old arranged meetings with his victims in February after chatting with them on social media, Inspector John King said on Tuesday.

He has been charged with three counts of rape, abduction and possessing child exploitation material and will face Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
