Friends and relatives have expressed disbelief over the killings of the elderly couple described as devoted and model citizens in the Wangaratta community.
The Western Australian man-- believed to be a family member-- appeared in an out-of-sessions hearing in Melbourne this evening.

He told the court he should be considered for bail because he posed no threat.
"I'm absolutely no threat to anyone's livelihood whatsoever," he said.
The man will be held in the Melbourne remand centre before appearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
