Man dead and teenager in critical condition after helicopter crash in Sydney

The crash occurred at Bankstown in Sydney's south-west about 1.30pm on Friday.

A man has been killed and a teenager seriously injured after a helicopter crashed in Sydney's south-west.

Emergency services were called to Birch Street in Bankstown about 1.30pm on Friday following reports of a helicopter crash.

NSW Police said a man, who is yet to be formally identified, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

A 19-year-old male was treated for serious injuries before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have established a crime scene and an investigation into the cause will be conducted by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
