Man dead, cops hurt after Qld explosion

One man has died in hospital and two police officers have minor burns after an explosion and fire at a Bowen unit in Queensland's north.

A 54-year-old man is dead and two police officers injured after a unit explosion in Queensland's north.

The two officers went to the man's Bowen property on Saturday to do a welfare check when the blast occurred, sparking a fire in the unit.

The 54-year-old was rushed to Bowen Hospital but died on Sunday morning. The two officers suffered minor burns.
