Police were called to Bankstown Central Shopping Centre at 11.50am after people reported seeing people shot in a carpark of the complex.

They discovered two men and a woman injured at the location; one of the men died at the scene.

The two injured people were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

The shopping centre car park has been closed as a precaution.

NSW Police are urging people to avoid the area for the time being due to traffic delays.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Fairfax reports the victim as a underworld figure Walid "Wally" Ahmad.
