Man dies after car plunges into Vic river

A man has died after his car plunged into a Victorian river, adding to the state's road toll which now stands at 117.

Victoria's road toll has climbed to 117 after a man died when his car plunged into a river.

The body of the 46-year-old was found 500m away from his car on Monday after the vehicle went into the Hopkins River in Warrnambool on Sunday night.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police spent Monday at the scene attempting to recover the vehicle.
