Man dies after hit on Melbourne ring road

A man who got out of a car on Melbourne's Western Ring Road has died after being struck by a passing truck.

A man has died after he was hit by a truck when he got out of a car on Melbourne's Western Ring Road to be sick.

The driver pulled over to the emergency lane, but police investigators believe 34-year-old St Albans man stepped out too far into the left running lane before being was struck by a passing truck at Glenroy at 12.50am on Tuesday.

The driver of the car has returned a positive reading of 0.153 per cent, while the truck driver has provided a statement to police before being allowed to leave.
