The body of a man who fell from a railway bridge and died after landing awkwardly in a Sydney river has been recovered by police divers.
The 23-year-old, who was jumping from the Como railway bridge with a group of others, went missing after falling from the bridge into the Georges River about 1.30pm on Tuesday.
A NSW Police spokeswoman told AAP it's believed the man "landed awkwardly" and did not resurface.
Police recovered his body a few hours later following a search involving local police, ambulance paramedics and a rescue helicopter.
A witness told Seven News he saw the man slip and fall.

"You knew he wasn't coming up, the way he landed," the man said.
Inspector Steve Worthington said people needed to respect how dangerous Sydney's waterways could be.
"That sort of behaviour, it's some sort of adventure for young people and it's another way that you can get yourself into a bit of trouble," Insp Worthington told reporters.
