One man is dead and another seriously injured after a wall collapsed at a construction site in Melbourne this morning.

The two men became trapped after a brick wall collapsed on Hawthorn Road in Caulfield South, south-east of the CBD.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics were called to the site around 10am after reports a wall had fallen at the property believed to be undergoing renovation.

One reportedly suffered serious head injuries and died while the other man has been taken to hospital with fractured limbs.

More details to come.
