A man has died and a woman is in hospital after they fell about 10m from a zipline in Queensland's far north.

Paramedics were called to a tourist attraction at Camelot Close at Cape Tribulation, north of Cairns, after the pair fell, about 2pm on Tuesday.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was flown by rescue helicopter to Cairns Base Hospital with "serious injuries", police said in a statement.

The man died at the scene.
Mossman police were guarding the site as workplace health and safety officers investigated.

Detectives will prepare a report for the coroner, although it is not yet clear how the pair fell.
