Man dies in Queensland light plane crash

Investigators are trying to work out what caused an ultralight plane crash in central Queensland, which claimed the life of a male pilot.

A male pilot has died in an ultralight plane crash in central Queensland.

Emergency services were called to the Gregory Highway, about 15km south of Emerald, just after 7.30am on Sunday.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was found dead at the scene.

The Queensland Police Service's forensic team remain on site where they are trying to work out what caused the crash.

Initial investigations showed the plane took-off from Emerald about 6am, a QPS spokesman said.
